ARIS Simulator - resources interruptible

Hi there,

In the Functions object, there's an interruptible field that signifies the resource must finish processing the Function until the end even when a break Schedule attempts to interrupt. Is there something similar that can be applied to the overall Process Folder/Instance where the instance must be executed until the end (i.e. until the last Event), even though the working shift time is over? That is, the resource must work over-time to complete the Process until the end (not just for the Function)?

Is this possible?

Hi Cecilia,

for the moment we only support this feature for functions. But it's worth to think about it also in the context of processes for future releases.

thanks for the heads up and look forward to this feature being included in future releases.

How about this - can I put a Schedule break on a Function and/or an Event? For example, from 15.30 onwards, a Function cannot be processed by a Resource?

The scenario I'm trying to model is a technician needs to install an device at each customer's homes (about 10 devices for 10 customers a day). If he has already started installing the device say five minutes before the end of his shift, in reality he needs to complete the entire installation process (e.g. finishes the remaining three Functions working overtime) before he can leave the customer's home. Because I can't force him to finish the entire installation process in the same day, in the simulation run he would not continue with the next Functions for that day, but (magically appear) the next day at the customer's home to finish the remaining three Functions - which cannot be true in reality.

A potential workaround is my question above - that is, to force a Schedule break on the a Function. That is, the technician is not allowed to commence processing the first Function 15 minutes before his shift ends (say from 15.30) to guarantee every process instance he takes on can be finished without lapsing to the next day. Note that I don't want to put the Schedule break on the technician (Resource), because I want him to finish processing the current Functions at hand - I just don't want him to commence any new installations if he realistically does not have enough time that day to finish processing it.

That said, I tried assigning Schedule breaks to Functions and Events - they didn't seem to work (the Resource igored the break). Have you any thoughts or guidance on this?
